How markup works
Selling price = cost ร (1 + markup% รท 100). Markup is profit expressed as a percentage of cost. The resulting margin (profit as a % of selling price) is always lower โ a 50% markup gives a 33.33% margin. Use markup to set prices from cost; use margin to see profitability on sales.
